Custom Sculptures with Meaning, Made for the Space They Live In
At Walter Metal Art, we don’t make custom sculptures just for the sake of it. We make them because not every space, story, or person fits a mould. Some ideas deserve to be shaped from scratch, with care, conversation, and a clear sense of place.
Each sculpture we create begins with a simple question: What does this piece need to feel right where it stands? From there, we listen. We sketch. We shape. And what starts as a thought becomes something solid, something that belongs.
Whether you’re looking for sculptors in Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide or beyond, our custom sculptures are made to travel and stay with you for years. Every sculpture is made in our Melbourne studio and shaped by hand, but it’s always created with your space in mind.
Your Ideas Are Our Inspiration
We believe custom sculptures are about creating something that feels right. Something that belongs in the space and brings meaning with it.
Our ideas often start with a feeling or a story. Sometimes it is a line in the landscape. Sometimes it is a memory or a piece of architecture that sparks the shape. We take that idea and let it grow. We sketch, we shape, we take our time.
We treat the material with care. Whether it is stainless steel, reclaimed metal or something textured and raw, we let the metal speak. It resists, it bends, it leads. We listen to what it wants to become.
Every custom commission is a conversation. It starts with what matters to you and ends with something that could only have come from that exchange. No two pieces are ever the same and that is what keeps our work honest and grounded.
Our philosophy is to make things that last and make them with care. And make sure they mean something to the people who live with them.

Materials That Work With Their Surroundings
We choose materials the same way we approach design, with the space in mind.
Marine grade stainless steel is often our starting point. It is clean, durable and handles Australia’s shifting climate with ease. But when it comes to custom sculptures, the material should reflect more than function. It should feel right for the setting.
If you are placing a sculpture by the coast in Sydney, we will recommend finishes that hold up against salt in the air and strong sunlight. For a garden in Adelaide, we might suggest a rawer look using reclaimed steel that weathers over time. If your home in Brisbane is all clean lines and modern tones, a polished stainless steel surface could be the right fit.
Every piece is shaped, welded and finished by hand in our Melbourne studio. We do not outsource or rush the process. Whether it is brushed, painted or sealed, the final finish is carefully chosen and applied to suit both the sculpture and the space it is going into.
Because for us, the right material does more than just last. It completes the piece.
Frequently asked questions
I have an idea in mind. Can you help shape it into a sculpture?
Yes, that’s where we do our best work. Whether you have a rough sketch, a reference image, or just a feeling you want the piece to carry, we’ll help turn it into something tangible. You do not need to speak in design terms, we’ll ask the right questions and guide the process from concept to form.
Do you offer delivery and installation across Australia?
We do. Our team regularly delivers to clients in Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and beyond. For large-scale or custom works, we organise professional handling and installation to make sure the piece arrives safely and is installed exactly where and how it should be.
How long will my custom sculpture take to complete?
Timeframes vary depending on size, detail, and complexity. Smaller pieces for interiors can be completed in four to six weeks. Larger garden sculptures or public installations may take a few months. We’ll give you a clear schedule upfront and keep you updated along the way.
